NVQ Level 1 Beauty Therapy

The programme has been designed to act as an introduction to the beauty therapy industry.

This one year course is only available to year 11 students. If you are a post-16 student please see level 2 course information.

Content - core units

• Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
• Assist with salon reception duties
• Prepare and maintain beauty therapy work area
• Assist with facial treatments (including basic skin structure and function)
• Assist with nail treatments on the hands (including basic nail structure)

Assessment

The qualification is achieved through continuous assessment both in theory and practice. Practical assessments will be undertaken in the salon.

A portfolio is compiled as part of the evidence for the awarding body, which will contain your projects and evidence of practical abilities.
